Because of Houstonstuck and Austinstuck’s close ties with each other we decided a while back that prom would be done by Houston (having prior experience with a Homecoming) while we were originally going to have a spring fling in April. However because of some crunches and lack of support at the time, we’ve had to push back spring fling to a fall dance of some sort (most likely).

That being said, Houston isn’t the only one having a prom. DFW is also having their promstuck the same night, however we don’t have as close of ties with them.

Who: All members of the Homestuck fandom(ages 13 and up) both in Houstonstuck and outside that want to come

What: Just like it sounds! Prom is being lead by two of the Houstonstuck Mods and put together with the help of volunteers in the Houstonstuck group. 

When: Saturday June 29th, 2013. 7pm - 11:30pm

Where: Houston Marriott Westchase  2900 Briarpark Dr. · Houston, Texas 77042

                         This location has a room called the Rose Garden, which looks quite a bit like a speakeasy.  After a voting period, the community decided to switch venues.

Why: A lot of people really enjoyed the Homecoming that was put on last October so we wanted to do it again, but bigger.

That sounds fun! If you’d like to host one, please feel free to! Meetups are run by individuals, so the more people that plan meets, the more meetups we can have. There’s no limit really.

As a reminder, we need to fill 15 hotel rooms to meet our end of the deal with Fiesta Equstria. So here’s the deal for you;

Each item will get you $5 off if you pay AT THE DOOR:

Proof that you are in a hotel room(we’ll figure what that proof will be and get back to you).
A badge for the convention(weekend or day pass)
Five cans of food.

If you have all three of these things, you will only have to pay $5 at the door.

If you book a hotel room or buy a badge LET US KNOW IMMEDIATELY. We need to keep track of this.

Please give me some feed back about this so I can feel better about officially saying yes to them in a couple days.

WARNING ALL HOMESTUCKS

I just talked to a friend who is very anti-Homestuck.  She said there’s a game going around where people try to steal horns from Homestuck cosplayers without touching them.  I’ve talked to her, explained why this is a horrible thing to do, but I don’t know how far out this reaches- she said her friend has eight pairs he’s stolen.

Apparently this is primarily targeted at the bad fans.  You know, the ‘buckets and fuckass’ ones.  The ones who try and force it down peoples’ throats.  But I’ll be honest- it shouldn’t happen to ANYONE, and I don’t trust the average joe to know or care about the difference between a good one and a bad when they see a pair of fallen horns ripe for the picking.

So PLEASE, at your next convention (I’m in Austin, so A-Kon and Anime Overload for me) watch out for your horns, and the horns of others!  Secure them well, and if you see someone take a pair be sure to report them to con security.

Okay, I’m thrilled that a lot of you love the new venue! But there is a thing you all need to remember. Part of us getting this venue is getting 15 hotel rooms booked. If I can get confirmation that this can happen, then we’re doing good. If not, then the chances of moving is greatly hurt. 4 people to a room is a great set up.

The rooms are $95+tax, so it’s only a few dollars more than the current venue.
